After reading these posts, I am quite interested! I know your post was a number of years ago, can you tell me, please, how things are still progressing? Are you better, any major problems coming back-- any other side effects? Where did you go/who did the surgery? Thank you for your time and response. I hope (for both our sakes) that you are doing quite well! |

Mary Ann 4/30/10 at 02:02 Previous Posts | Re: Cryoanalgesia: Outcomes for heel pain & Morton's Neuroma Sorry I had cryo surgery done for plantar faciitis; the doctor charged $26,000 for it plus another $5,000 for other work she did. She said go to work, even though I had to stand a lot at work. Went to this doctor a week after the pain started. I was told the opposite of what every other doctor said was the correct procedure. I never even saw the doctor before or after the surgery. Was put out, so I don't know what happen. It's a short surgery that just made the doctor wealthy. She didn't send any bills until I had been going to her for quite a while. The surgery charge was $20,000 more than what her office said it would be. The first visit turned out to be about $4,000. After the surgery the pain continued. |

There are neuropathies associated with autoimmune diseases (Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis etc), Vitamin deficiencies, mainly B6 & B12, this could be due to diet or malabsorption (from Celiac disease or Inflammatory bowel disease for example), B12 deficiciencies can be caused by some medications including Metformin (great medication for diabetes, u should take extra B12 if on this) and long term use of proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole, nexium, protonix etc), could be associated with heavy metal exposure, Hepatitis B&C, HIV, Different types of gammaglobinopathies- Amyloidosis, certain Hereditary diseases Marie charcot tooth (think I spelled that right) also could be due to compression of peripheral nerves (Carpal tunnel & tarsal tunnel syndrome, hypothyroidism, COPD and many other causes if you would like an article from uptodate.com, send me an email to aarnott at floyd.org for more info. MarshaDee 2/23/10 at 15:45 Previous Posts | Re: Question about cryosurgery etc. for plantar fibroma I was considering the traditional surgery until I found out about the cryosurgery. I'm scheduled to have it done 2/25/10. I'm dismayed that there are no recent postings here. I have fibromas on the arch of both feet, just occured this past 11/09. I have orthotics that have 'channels' in them to reduce pressure. I had started using verapamil topically, but decided since I'm in nursing school (at age 52 - am I nuts or what), that I shouldn't wait. I will be glad to post my findings after the surgery. I'm seeing Dr. Terry Spilkin in NJ. |

martha h. 11/26/09 at 12:36 Previous Posts | Re: cryosurgery for plantar fibroma Dr. Chuck Peter in Lewisburg, TN, did cryosurgery for my morton's neuroma a year and a half ago - and no pain at all until recently, and it didn't take long at all in his office. He is very professional, and a really nice person. I plan to return and have it done again, as the nerve probably grew back, and is causing the same pain again. I shouldn't have done line dancing in tight cowboy boots. LOL. I think this (cryosurgery)is a great alternative to open surgery or orthotics. |

Dan W 4/29/09 at 17:12 Previous Posts | cryosurgery, does it work? Hi all, I'm suffering with an ever painful neuroma and am wondering how others have been treated and if the cryosurgical treatment is considered to be a relatively safe one that won't make my foot worse. I already have had PF for ten years and was afraid to get any surgery because of the potential of it getting worse. Crysurgery is something I have not heard of and am interested in the procedure for my neuroma. Any good advice? |

The doctor said it was Chronic Plantar Fasciitis. My fiancee has done the therapy and is taking medication for it with no relief. He wants to cut off his feet. I said I would research different surgeries and find out the success rate and recovery times for the different procedures. Please let me know if you would recommend Cryosurgery. Thank you! |

beverley h 2/24/09 at 22:57 Previous Posts | Re: Cryoanalgesia: Outcomes for heel pain & Morton's Neuroma I have had Morton's Neuroma for 11 years . I have refused conventional surgery . Tomorrow, I am going to have a Doctor that I found on the web site in Encinitas, California. Dr. James Hatfield, perform the cryosurgery on my foot . After what I have been through with Foot Doctor's wanting to try this ,and that treatment, and this and that drug for pain : All of which I refused .. except for two shots of Cortizone, and Orthodics for my shoes, I am looking forward to the procedure tomorrow. I am wondering where the updates are since 2006 .. Do the Dr's agree that this cryosurgery is the way to go in the year of 2009? My life has changed since 11 years ago, and these last months in particular have been sheer torture for me . I am totally desperate now. If the Cryosurgery does not work for me, I will not be able to stand this pain every day , two to three times a day any longer. My question is: If the cryosurgery does not work, What surgery would be the best ? Nerve Amputation or M I N D ? I go tomorrow with positive thoughts that the Cryosurgery will work. Not one Doctor in 11 years has ever mention Cryosurgery ! I have seen 8 doctors . Will someone please answer ! Thank You ! Ellen |
