This website has sooo upset me. I have been having heel pain off and on for the last few years....I didn't need a website or a doctor to tell me that it was because I had gained weight. I just recently acquired a donkey and a horse...they are my weight loss program. Since the donkey and her baby are untrained, I need to walk, walk, walk them around the pasture. The horse is a very skinny rescue animal that needs his strength built up by, you guessed it, lots of walking. But, since I have begun this, my heel pain is becoming increasingly awful. How, exactly, am I supposed to lose weight to fix the problem if exercise is killing me...don't tell me to swim, I don't have access. Besides, I have these horses now and MUST walk them. Give me a way to walk safely.....please. Reply to Message # 196949Re: re: No walking??? but lose weight????

I have had the same problem, I want to exercise but can't. I have recently bought a recumbent bike. Its great because you ride horizontally, not vertically like a regular bike. It puts no weight at all on your feet but gives you a really good workout. You can choose the level of difficulty. I have a few cheap hand weights that I try to do at the same time. Another thing I bought is the ABLounger. You do sit ups without too much difficulty. They were both relatively inexpensive and dont take up too much room. Good Luck to you!! Hitch the horse to a small wagon, you sit in it, and tie the donkey to the back of the wagon. Horse and donkey get the exercise and you don't overuse your feet with excess walking. Your diet should be lean turkey, chicken and salmon( 3-4 oz portions max) and vegatables. - nothing cooked with any fat, no white foods, no carbs( bread, white rice, pasta), no beef or pork, no bread, white potatoes or pasta. Egg beaters instead of whole eggs, no sugar, limited fresh fruit, 1% milk, cooked oatmeal made with water, no salt added to anything. Snacks can be no fat popcorn. No prepared foods. Soups can be made with vegatables and no fat and salt. If you do not lose weight on a diet like this you are cheating. 2 quarts of water a day. I am with you on the eating. I usually eat about six small meals a day. That keeps up energy levels and speeds up fat loss. I drink about a gallon of water per day.
Don't think that "healthy food" has to be bland.
Here is a good site about eating correctly: http://www.bodyforlife.com/nutrition/index.asp
If six small meals seems like it would be hard to do, there are plenty of good meal replacement shakes and bars that are very tasty out there. I do about 3-4 real meals and supplement with 2-3 meal replacements. Reply to Message # 196982Re: re: No walking??? but lose weight????

ABsolutely fine ( pun intended). You actually lay in a canvas sling and hold a strap over your head. There is a foot rest but I tend to hang my feet over due to my TTS. Reply to Message # 197081Re: re: No walking??? but lose weight????

Kelli,
Thanks for the info on the ablounger. Mine is on my back porch. I was afraid to try it after my TTS release 7 weeks ago. But seeing as other people with TTS have found a way to work their Abs, it sounds like maybe I should give it a try. Guess I don't have any more excuses not to exercise !!! lol Will try it (gently) tomorrow and see if it works ok. Better hurry though, next TTS release on other leg is in less than 2 weeks.

I would never dare try it but my husband has one and he says it works very well and doesn't hurt one's neck at all.
He's a sucker for all kinds of gizmos! Reply to Message # 197159Re: re: No walking??? but lose weight????

Good luck on your surgery. I may not have abs of steel any longer but I feel better mentally after exercising.
Just hang your sore leg over the bar. That way there is no pressure on it. Reply to Message # 197175© heelspurs.com
