Atkins Dieters: An interesting thing i learned about limiting carbohydrates and why it helps decres yout pain

Yesterday I met for the first time with a personal sports trainer. He is a certified kinestheologist (sp?). A big word for someone who holds a college degree in sports health with some nutrition. Anyway, I explained my plantarfacitis and its limitations and when I was through he said he was familiar with it. One of the first things he told me to do was stop eating breads and pastas (sugar will come later, but he is weaning me off slowly). Mainly, he said carbs turn to fat in your body and slow your metabolism. This I knew. However, I metioned Atkins being beneficial to reducing the pain and he said that while he didn't advocate the Adkins Diet, reducing carbohydrates would definitely help with relieving soreness in my feet and muscles.

He said that just as gasoline goes in a car and produces carbon monoxide, breads and carbohydtrates go into the body producing lactic acid. Lactic acid stores itself in muscles and cause fluid retention which results in stiffness and soreness.

This is not to say go on the Adtkins. He definitely didn't want me to do that because to little carbohydrates is extreeme and will cause muscle loss. Eventually he will shift me onto a diet that will allow for carbs only before 2:00 p.m.

I will keep you posted with my progression with him With my activity level beind decreased I really felt in need of working with someone who could help me exercise with my feet in mind.

Ibuprofen cream instead of pills because of the stomach irritation high doses of pills can cause. This is the only place in the U.S. I've found that sells it.
