Re: Surgery - Tarsal Tunnel Release

I hope everything goes well for you John - will be looking forward to hearing back on your progress. I had the conduction testing done on "Friday the 13th". The tech explained that there are 3 nerves that go through the tunnel. One that goes to your heel - one that supplies the bottom of your foot, and one that wraps around and supplies the outside of your foot (by your baby toe). I had obvious compression in those last two nerves in both feet - called the medial and the lateral plantar nerves I think.

He also did a sensation test - and I have a significant loss of feeling between my toes and the outside of my right foot.

On the 31st I will see a sports med specialist at the University and hopefully he will be able to speed up the appropriate referral to either a neurosurgeon or orthapedic surgeon.

After 10 months of almost constant pain - I guess I will be looking at surgery as well, so I'll be very intested in hearing about your experience - will be thinking of you on Tuesday!

Ibuprofen cream instead of pills because of the stomach irritation high doses of pills can cause. This is the only place in the U.S. I've found that sells it.
